The Chemistry Investigations and Micro (CIM) dept., in the Division of New Ventures Science & Systems, is a special group within Innovation & Science at Amway, that provides credible, scientific solutions that advance a portfolio of high-quality products and ideas.   This division has groups of talented scientists who provide bioassay support, chromatography oversight, investigation (forensics) and microbiology support, to product development teams.   Our high-quality Amway products, and the active ingredients that make them unique, are supported by research this team provides.  Their work is crucial to the discovery and development of new products.  Your work on this team will be focused on botanicals and other functional actives for use in both nutrition and beauty ingredients.  You will create innovative science concepts, which will be instrumental in offering innovative and exciting products that fuel sales success and growth for our global Amway Business Owners (ABO’s).  

 

How you would contribute to the role:

 

If you would enjoy a role that has you involved in the creation of innovative science concepts, that can translate to new product development, you will thrive in this role.  As a member of this team, you will proactively create, develop, improve, investigate, characterize, discover, validate, customize, and optimize analytical test methods.  This is a highly cross functional role, working with product development partners to ensure ingredient and product integrity consistent with expectations.  You will also have an opportunity to showcase your efforts on this team, though patents, presentations, papers, and posters to scientific societies and Amway expert speaking events.  A majority of your time will be spent at the laboratory bench, working on product development or ingredient characterization initiatives, with focus on botanicals and natural products used in our nutrition and/or beauty products.  If you love chemistry, science, and innovation, this role will provide an amazing platform to learn and grow with a special team!                                          

 

What skills and background will be important to be successful:

  • 3 - 5 years hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of LC-MS and LC-MS-MS instrumentation equipped with a high-resolution mass spectrometer
  • Experience in small molecule research, marker analysis and/or metabolomics research
  • Identification of unknowns using accurate mass analysis, mass spectral interpretation, MS-MS, and the use of mass spectral databases / search tools
  • Experience in botanical / phytochemical research related to pharmacognosy and/or Consumer products related forensic investigation
  • Experience with Waters Synapt HDMS platform, MassLynx, and Progenesis software desirable
  • Background with HPLC, UPLC, and knowledge of sample extraction techniques
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related field
