This team’s efforts will expand our product portfolios through new botanicals or technologies, delivering product innovation that our Amway Business Owners (ABO’s) want to sell, and our global consumers want to buy.  Reporting to the Director Plant & Agricultural Innovation, there can be geographic flexibility for this role to be located near our Washington State farms, or in Buena Park, CA at the center of our nutrition innovation. This is an exciting new role for someone who has deep functional knowledge of knowledge of plant concentrates and agriculture research with organic plant production.  Your work will deliver new products and technologies to an already robust product portfolio!


How you would contribute to the role:

Working with our global agricultural teams, vendors, or in-house manufacturing, you will lead a team of 8 - 10 technical professionals around the globe, to offer high quality functional botanicals for use in our nutrition and beauty product lines.  In this role, you will closely partner with Regulatory, Brand Management teams, and other groups to understand customer needs, leading internal and external farm and plant research, development, co-innovation, and sourcing.  Your understanding of key agricultural emerging technologies, as well as trends and insights across the globe, will support product differentiation that delivers future product solutions.  Additionally, you will develop an external partner network of farms, botanical libraries (from traditional medicine and conventional plants), adjunctive capabilities, and extraction houses, to guide creation of plant extractions, dehydrates, and other forms that deliver meaningful benefits and experience.  Specifically, you will be responsible to guide a team, determining scientific and technical goals, leading Amway’s global agricultural research.  This includes breeding, cultivation and feedstock processing leading to differentiated, high value botanicals.   An exposure and strong understanding of plant breeding (speed breeding), hydroponics and other modern farming technologies is highly desired. What skills and background will be important to be successful?

  • Minimum 8 – 10 years’ experience leading agricultural research and leading teams to product level opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience with protocols and regulations associated with organic plant production as well Good Agricultural and Collection practices (GACP) and post-harvesting technologies including drying and processing
  • Exposure and strong understanding modern farming technologies including ethnobotany, plant genetics, and hydroponics
  • Hands-on experience in on-farm management of crop production practices on large commercial and/or small individual personal farms.
  • International experience with farms located outside the United States will be valued
  • Experience in farm research conducting field trials, collecting and analyzing trial data, presenting results and conclusions of trials to others, and educating farm personnel and leaders on best practice
  • Understanding of informatics or informatics associated technologies including genomics, metabolomics and cheminformatics.
  • Industry competitive knowledge in supplements, food or ingredients and related technologies
  • BS/MS in Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Botany and agriculture related degrees
  • Ability to travel 25-40%, globally
