Department/Division:      Botanical Product Development / Global Innovation &

Location:                          Trout Lake, WA

What we need:

We seek an agricultural scientist that can partner with our global farm locations to develop better management practices and farming technologies for enhanced ag production.  This person will also identify solutions to infuse our product pipeline with innovative botanical offerings.

What’s special about this team:

Nutrilite, part of the Amway family of companies, is the world’s leading global brand in vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements.  Working with a special team of six ag scientists based in farming locations located in Trout Lake, Mexico, and Brazil, you will strive to identify new plant botanicals and how best to grow them.   This team’s work leads global agricultural research for novel, clean plant extraction and ingredient technology development and acquisition.  They will also identify new concentrates and/or new crops for vertical integration that can advance new technologies to fuel innovative product concepts for our Health and Beauty Product offerings.  This team’s efforts will expand our product portfolios through new botanicals or technologies, delivering fresh product innovation to drive sales with our global consumers.

What’s special about this role:

This is a cool role for someone who loves agricultural research and farming innovation, getting your “hands dirty” with farm crews leading small plot research.  Your work environment will be on the farm, exploring new farm research, and considering new farm practices for improved growing.  This job will have you exploring how we improve the plants in our pipeline or looking at new or different practices to better grow botanicals on our farms.  Additionally, you will sit on product development teams, partnering with product development scientists at our Nutrilite location in Buena Park, CA, acting as the ag expert on how plants perform on the farms, providing agronomy expertise.   This job will also involve bio-exploration to identify new botanicals that may be considered for product innovation.  You will develop partnerships working with various universities/academics for purposes of plant breeding, agronomy advancements, or plant improvement in our current pipeline.  Your role services two primary customers:  One is the farm - improving our current state, and Nutrition Product Development - how do we find new things to grow on the farm to support nutrition.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience plant science, and crop development with vegetables or fruit science, horticulture, or specialization in propagation or production
  • Experience leading farm research and small plot development
  • Demonstrated experience in plant research and diagnostics in soils, pests, weeds, etc.
  • PhD in Plant Science, Horticulture Plant or related science discipline with specialization in propagation
