What do we need:

We are looking for a Distribution Mechanic to join our team in our Midwest Regional Service Center.

The Logistics Division is responsible for supporting our customers, manufacturing plants, and global affiliates through their warehousing and Service Centers across the United States and Canada. They support all aspects of our business throughout the supply chain, including the final orders to our customers. At the Midwest Regional Service Center, we provide pick, pack, and ship services to local Amway Business Owners and customers.  This position will work a 3rd shift schedule, Sunday – Thursday (ending Friday morning) 11:00pm – 7:00am.

 

How you would contribute to the role:

The Distribution Mechanic serves as the quick responder for all material handling and warehousing equipment maintenance and repair at our Midwest Regional Service Center (MI). You will be troubleshooting material handling and warehousing equipment, systems and processes while also monitoring the proper operations of systems and reporting necessary major repair and maintenance to the appropriate department(s)/staff. You will be partnering with our Maintenance team to ensure equipment is properly maintained to include providing recommendations for changes to the preventative maintenance (PM) program as well as day-to-day equipment preventative maintenance (ie. lubricating equipment), as necessary.   In addition, you will manage outside service providers to include acquiring quotes, maintaining records, handling the parts management program and overseeing inspections by outside agencies and internal departments. Additional duties will include operating and making minor adjustments to the Exacta Warehouse Control System and screens on the Human Machine Interface (HMI), developing job-specific SOPs and learning other duties outside of day-to-day responsibilities by serving as "back up" for other roles in the facility as required

 

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One year of maintenance experience
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, technical manuals and related documents
  • Must be capable of lifting 0 – 50 lbs.

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • Basic knowledge of equipment including all photo eye locations, Exacta Control systems and HMI screens
  • Resolves basic and/or standard questions and problems and refers more complex issues to Central Maintenance
  • Strong mechanical skills to include knowledge of conveyor and sortation systems, hydraulic systems, compressed air systems, lubrication systems, warehouse control system and HMI Screens
    Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well and proactively communicate with individuals throughout the company and with external vendors in a cooperative, constructive and positive manner
  • Experience and adept with the following applications/systems:  MS Excel, MS Word, Lotus Notes, Internet and applications applicable to warehouse operations
  • Mechanical skills to include knowledge of and/or experience working with conveyors and various material handling equipment
