Associate Software Developer I

 

Responsibilities

 

• Global Collaboration: As an Amway corporate IT software application developer to collaborate with local and global team members on internal application “MAGIC” program implementation, production support and ongoing end-of-month support.
• Services: Provide software application development and support services to our business affiliates across the world.
• Technologies/Knowledge/Skills: Java programming and application development skills.
• Processes: Follow established solution delivery guidelines and software development life cycle (SDLC) and DevOps – Agile methodology, standards and practices.


• Deliver Amway Corporate application with features including (but not limited to):
o Website
o ABO registration/ renewal/ resignation
o Manage ABO profile information and growth
o Bonus calculation
o Award recognition
o Specific functions for region/ country


• Work on the tasks of:
o Debug – Correct/ fix any code errors to existing application’s defects
o Enhance – Advance/ revise the existing application’s capability/ features
o Deliver new – Create/ develop new application
o Production Support – Resolve production issues raised
• Focus on the disciplines of software development:


o Agile Sprint planning
o Write technical document
o Develop/code the application
o Create automated unit test
o Perform Development testing


• Collaborate with local and global team members to:
o Update and discuss project tasks
o Identify/ recommend solutions
o Follow up and clarify
o Share knowledge/ information and provide feedback
o Deliver solution


• Collaborate with cross-functional units:
o Project manager – on tasks progress and status
o IT Business Systems Analyst – on functional requirements/change
o Testers/ QA – on application quality, performance and testing
o Deployment/ environment/ release services – on codes merge, validate, change, deploy and release process

o Production operations – on existing applications in production environment
o DBA/ Integrations – on data and systems integration


• Problem-Solving: Consults with experience/ senior personnel such as Functional Manager, Team Lead, Principal and Senior Developer to clarify application intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.

 

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent.
• Years of professional experience:
o Minimum 1-2 years’ experiences in Java development with J2EE and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) shall apply this position.
• Technical Experience / Skills / Knowledge (some exposure to the following will be preferred):
o Java, J2EE, EJB 2 and 3, Servlet, JSP, SQL, JMS, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Node.js
o Application/ Web server knowledge: IBM WebLogic
o Application monitoring tool: Dynatrace
o Build/ Deployment: Maven, Jenkins
o Code quality and security: SonarQube
o Database: Oracle, SQL Developer, TOAD (Licensed)
o Development tool: Eclipse
o Messaging: Kafka
o Source control: Git, GitHub, SVN
o Team collaboration tool: Jira, Confluence
o Test automation: Selenium, TestNG
o Unit testing: JUnit
o Web services: SOAP, REST
o Web services testing tool: SoapUI, Postman
o Working experience in an Agile & DevOps environment (Scrum)
o AWS platform and technology
• Soft Skills/ Competencies:
o Good English oral and written communication skills. This includes communication with cross cultural audiences.

o Willing to extend working hours during week days as this position is required to collaborate with teammates based in U.S for project discussions.
• The applicant must be willing to provide rotating end-of-month (once a month) support and be part of the weekly on-call support roster schedule which can be during off hours, weekends and holidays. Work schedules may include some after work hours and weekend assignments based on demands. Applicant must also be willing to attend night meetings/ calls scheduled with cross teams across the globe.
