What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to join the Packaging Development team in the Nutrition Center of Excellence (COE) to lead package development for Health and Wellness products enabling our ABOs to grow their businesses around the world.

 

Your primary focus will be nutritional products across a range of formats, from traditional solid dose supplements to alternate food and beverage delivery formats (gummies, bars, powders, ready-to-drink beverages, etc). In this role, you will:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to select the packaging, develop packaging test plans, and write technical specifications within our Product Lifecycle Management system.  Your involvement will range from concept ideation through postproduction maintenance. 
  • Support the technical packaging execution from component design & selection through production, filling, assembly, distribution, consumer experience and end of life. 
  • Lead sustainable design efforts working with internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimized packaging solutions by researching, testing and implementing solutions that reduce material usage, enable recyclability and compost-ability and/or incorporate PCR.
  • Work closely with internal and external manufacturing partners to deliver products that meet our high-quality standards.                  

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
  • 1-2 years’ experience in consumable goods (food, pharma, beauty products, homecare products) Packaging Engineering role
  • Exposure to sustainable packaging, specifically material reduction, recycling, & compostable packaging
  • Industry awareness and knowledge of packaging processes, trends, suppliers, and innovation (especially as it relates to sustainability)
  • Exposure to suppliers and manufacturing partners capabilities.

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • Proactive desire and willingness to dig in and learn about new packaging options (new formats/structures and solutions outside of prior experience)
  • Self-starter that will identify and coordinate the technical packaging tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Analytical mindset to inform team decisions and troubleshoot development challenges.
  • Highly engaged, collaborative team member, who is a good partner with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast paced/dynamic role, juggle multiple projects, and execute with excellence within accelerated project timing 
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and influence skills
