What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a driven, ambitious engineer interested in working with consumable products. We are also seeking team members who have a passion for continuous improvement, understanding the root cause of a problem, and identifying and implementing solutions. Our team is looking for someone who can collaborate across multiple functions, tackle problems, and resolve issues quickly. This position will be responsible for various production areas and product and equipment types.
Your ability to work collaboratively and problem-solve will be highly valued in this role as you work broadly with many internal and external partners. You will use a broad range of investigation, root cause, and problem-solving tools to address quality issues and ensure consistent quality from internal and external manufacturing partners. What's more, you will have the exciting opportunity to participate in complex cross-functional efforts to improve product quality or processes, potentially significantly impacting our operations.
In this role you will collaboratively provide solutions to a wide range of technical issues. You will also have the opportunity to learn or use your past experience to execute a broad range of quality functions, including:
- Investigate Out-of-Specification Results:
- Analyze when things don’t meet established standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to fix issues.
- Interface with Various Teams:
- Connect with manufacturing, process engineering, and others.
- Ensure effective solutions for deviations.
- Quality Improvement and Customer Advocacy:
- Join quality improvement efforts and cross-functional projects.
- Resolve customer quality issues during sourcing or manufacturing.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure products meet specifications.
- Uphold consistent global quality standards.
Required qualifications:
- At least of 2 years of experience in Engineering in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), food, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in root cause investigations and/or product development
- Experience conducting facility audits to ensure compliance with quality standard
- Demonstrated experience in Design for Quality or experience in product or process development is preferred
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
Skills to be successful in the role:
- Ability to analyze data and supplier performance metrics to identify trends, failure or opportunities for improvement.
- Experience in or supporting a GMP manufacturing environment
- Experience with quality standards and Design for Quality practices
- Experience with data analysis, statistical techniques, and problem solving
- Ability to collaborate with manufacturing, product development, global engineering, and operations engineering to effectively and efficiently resolve issues

What’s special about this team:
The Nutrition Quality Engineering Department is a hardworking team of over 25 engineers across two Amway sites (Ada, Michigan and Buena Park, California). The team works in a fast-paced environment supporting internal and external manufacturing sites to ensure quality product is produced and supplied to our customers. Our team works heavily with cross functional partners such as engineering, product development, planning, suppliers, and manufacturing to prevent and address product quality issues. Our team also works with our global QA counterparts in over 10 markets across many countries. There is an ongoing shift from back-end to front-end design for quality work to get ahead of issues and minimize reactive quality work.
