Job title:                             Machinist III (Skilled Trades)

Department / Division:  Global Engineering & Facilities/Manufacturing

Pay Range:                        $24.19 - $39.53 per hour (pay rate dependent on classification)

Location:                            Ada, MI

 

 

What do we need:

We are looking for a Machinist to join our Skilled Trades/Facilities Manufacturing Team.


What’s special about this team:

Our Ada Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility and manufacturing related equipment at our World Headquarters complex, and is comprised of over 100 highly qualified Skilled Trades employees.

 

Our Machine Shop equipment and technologies are kept up to date and modern, and we maintain the equipment to a high standard. We also encourage our machinists to develop skills and abilities on all equipment, so they are both proficient and capable.  If you enjoy problem solving, multitasking, and challenging work, then this team may be a good fit for you.

 

What’s special about this role:

In this role, you will interpret engineering drawings/specifications, sketches and written/oral instructions to machine various components. This person will operate and program manual and CNC equipment working to close tolerances and inspecting work using precision measuring instruments. You will read, interpret, and edit CNC programming, as required, to mitigate production delays. Maintain and return all equipment such as tooling, jigs, fixtures and gauges to the proper storage area.
 

Perform routine operator preventive maintenance functions such as daily lubrication, chip removal, and the cleaning of machines, table, surrounding area as required. Train other machinists, as required. At this level, you will machine complex parts on multiple machines with repeatability and accuracy, troubleshoot equipment problems on the manufacturing floor, developing prototypes to eliminate or facilitate manufacturing bottle necks, and partner with Research and Development, Engineering and others to reduce manufacturing costs of machined components

           

Required qualifications:

  • One of the following;
    • HS Diploma with a Journeyman’s Card
    • Completion of related Apprenticeship Program
    • Associate Degree
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a facilities/skilled trades environment

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • CNC Machining Centers and CNC programming including G-code, M-code, and CAD/CAM software
  • Independently performing tasks requiring accuracy and mental application in the use of shop mathematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and Feeds & Speeds calculations
  • Setting, using and reading precision layout and measuring instruments and computer skills
  • Reading and interpreting detailed blueprints and apply tolerancing
  • Metals and/or plastics machining (to include but not limited to stainless steel, tool steels, aluminum PDFE plastics, delrin, etc.)
  • Communicating with customers and coworkers to facilitate work completion in a timely manner
  • Using hand tools to assemble, dissemble and set up tooling and components
