What is special about this team:

MAGIC DMS is a proprietary Amway solution that provides capabilities necessary to manage Amway “Customer” accounts. The MAGIC DMS delivery team is made up of a mix of employees and contractors with diverse responsibilities across Ada, Michigan, United States, Europe and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This delivery team is part of a larger team of technology professionals supporting the overall MAGIC platform within the ABO Success organization. The team thrives on collaboration and works together to create and develop the best solutions possible to support our Amway Business Owners (ABO) across the globe. This team is a self-managed and hardworking group of high achievers who have been working very closely with the regional Web Replacement (SAP CX One/ Hybris) initiative across the globe providing all ABO Incentive capabilities.

 

What is special about this role:

The MAGIC DMS program has several capability-based pods strategically aligned to our NextGen Commerce ecosystem while also meeting the needs of the legacy system known as the monolith. As the manager, this role will have direct reports comprising full time employees and contractors who are placed in these multiple pods within the MAGIC DMS program. This role is responsible for the end to end delivery of the capabilities that are offered within the MAGIC DMS NextGen Commerce ecosystem and the current state monolith. At the same time, this role is also responsible in providing technical guidance, coaching the team, managing the budget, developing the strategy, and executing the strategy to accelerate the delivery of NextGen Commerce solutions and ensuring stability to current state monolith. This role is based in Ada, Michigan, United States and reports up through the Manager – ABO Product Engineering (MAGIC DMS).

 

Other Roles and Responsibilities:

As this role has direct reports comprising of professionals placed in multiple pods, this role might manage one or more agile cross-functional product delivery teams and is dedicated to working with the business teams to design and implement solutions to address global, regional, and local requirements to support the strategies of the Global Sales Organization.

This role is also responsible for the talent development of the team members in a cross-functional product delivery team which consists of product managers, system analysts, scrum masters, software developers, QA testers and support engineers.

This role supports the Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/ CD) pipeline and works with the team to migrate the existing Java based monolith and Oracle Database to modern application, database, and containerization technologies deployed on AWS. This role will be measured on the ability to transform the MAGIC DMS solution into a world-class microservices based platform running within the cloud.

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or relevant field with at least 10 years of software development and delivery working experience and at least 5 years of leading and managing software product teams in an agile environment.

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

 

  • Working knowledge of multiple computing platforms and architectures (AWS), software applications packages, programming tools, containerization technologies, cost optimization strategies
  • Demonstrate experience in driving a successful transformation of best engineering practices from a current legacy state to a modernized target state
  • Extensive working knowledge of project management principles and Agile development practices
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
  • Experience working across diversified cultures with talent to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to bring projects forward to completion
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking with strong problem-solving ability
