Internship Job Title:  Nutrition Process Engineer


Pay Range: $22.99 - $29.36 per hour (Undergrad)


What is special about this team: The department has fun while completing challenging work. Amway I&S plays an integral role in developing new and exciting products that our ABOs are enthusiastic to share/sell in their markets. How would an intern contribute to the team’s success: This position will contribute to the team’s overall success by helping to identify, troubleshoot, design and run experiments that enable the manufacture of our softgel line of products.


An example of a typical project is: Current issues associated with softgel manufacturing are dissolution failures, moisture level in finished softgel and limited natural colorant options. The intern would be tasked to investigate one of these issues based upon interest and priority.  This will involve developing an understanding of the issue by reading the scientific literature and speaking with internal experts, running experiments in the pilot manufacturing facilities in Buena Park, CA, generating data, analyzing results and proposing additional experiments as needed.

An example project flow:

  1. Identify the possible causes of manufacturing challenges associated with softgels
  2. Hypothesize potential solutions
  3. Test 1-2 hypotheses, generate results and interpret data


What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?

Desired Skills: Chemical Engineering major preferred. Proficient with Office tools (Excel, Access etc.). Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Strong analytical and communications skills

Desired Prospective Degree: Bachelor’s (BS)


Work Type: Hybrid, Most of the work will take place in Buena Park, CA with at least 2 weeks of travel to Ada, MI.

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
