Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Database Engineering
- Provide engineering ownership and technical leadership for enterprise Oracle database platforms across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise database platforms to meet business availability, scalability, security, and resiliency requirements.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, operational governance, technical documentation, and best practices across the Database Engineering organization.
- Drive platform standardization, automation, observability, and engineering excellence to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
- Platform Reliability & Operations
- Engineer and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions using Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, GoldenGate, and related enterprise technologies.
- Lead database lifecycle management activities, including provisioning, patching, upgrades, migrations, decommissioning, capacity planning, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Monitor and optimize database performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager, AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL diagnostics, and operating system analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex database, infrastructure, storage, operating system, and application interaction issues affecting production services.
- Engineering Governance & Security
- Lead database security, governance, compliance, audit readiness, privileged access management, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and data protection initiatives.
- Support enterprise architecture reviews, engineering standards, vendor risk assessments, technology governance, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Ensure engineering solutions align with enterprise security, operational, and technology standards.
- Technology Modernization
- Lead and support strategic engineering initiatives, including cloud adoption, database modernization, EOSL remediation, automation, Infrastructure as Code, observability, AI-assisted operations, and platform optimization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend engineering improvements that enhance platform reliability, efficiency, and operational maturity.
- Drive continuous service improvement through automation, simplification, and engineering innovation.
- Technical Leadership
- Provide senior technical leadership during major incidents, complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and enterprise-wide technical investigations.
- Lead technical engagement with Oracle, Microsoft, cloud providers, managed service partners, and other technology vendors to resolve complex engineering issues.
- Provide engineering consultation and technical leadership for enterprise projects, technology transformations, and solution architecture reviews.
- Mentor engineers, perform technical reviews, and promote engineering excellence across the Database Engineering organization.
- Collaboration
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, application, cybersecurity, architecture, monitoring, service delivery, and project teams to successfully deliver enterprise initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure operational readiness, risk management, and successful project implementation.
- Support Change Management, Major Incident Management, Problem Management, and Continuous Service Improvement activities.
